As a Subaru driver, you want to keep your car in great condition so you can enjoy it for as long as possible. Subaru maintenance uses only expert technicians and Subaru-approved parts to give your vehicle the level of care and attention it deserves. As your Los Angeles Subaru dealer, we want to give you some examples of maintenance we can provide when you need it.

Transmission Fluid Replacement

Transmission fluid is as essential for your transmission as oil is for your engine. As the fluid moves through the transmission, it cools the hot components. Many transmission components depend on friction to work effectively, and the fluid covers them with a friction-resistant coating to protect them against wear damage. Transmission fluid also provides the essential hydraulic power that enables the gears to move.

This fluid gradually degrades over time, and older transmission fluid becomes sluggish as it accumulates dirt and minute debris inside the transmission. Slower fluid is less effective, and it loses its heat-resistant properties. This can cause the fluid to overheat and burn. We drain the old fluid, then replace the transmission filter to allow the new fluid to move freely. Finally, we reseal the transmission and refill it with fresh fluid.

Shocks and Struts

These components give you a smooth ride as they cushion your vehicle against bumping and jostling if you drive over less than even terrain. This cushioning effect also helps to protect numerous components from moving and potentially suffering damage in the process. On average, your shocks and struts should be checked every 50,000 miles, although your Subaru manual will give the exact time for your model.

You can easily feel problems with these components, as driving will seem bumpier than it should be. This applies even if you’re driving on a regular road surface. If these components are worn or damaged, you’ll also hear noises, fuel consumption will increase, and your tires will wear out faster. Depending on the situation, we’ll examine your shocks and struts and either service or replace them.

Tire Pressure Checks

All your tires have a specific tire pressure. The correct pressure for the tires on your Subaru model is determined by its designers and engineers to supply the safest and most comfortable driving experience. Tire pressure can change naturally, as the pressure inside a tire will try to equalize with the external air pressure.

Overinflated tires are more likely to suffer blowouts due to higher internal pressure, while underinflated tires will suffer more friction damage. We’ll check the pressure in your tires and correct it if required. We’ll also examine them for any signs of excessive wear or damage. If your tires are worn, we can replace them for you.
