What’s Included in an Extended Warranty on a New Subaru?

A new Subaru comes with two factory warranties. The first is a limited bumper-to-bumper warranty that provides coverage for your first three years or 36,000 miles of ownership, whichever occurs first. The second warranty covers your powertrain components for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. As your Los Angeles area Subaru dealer, we want to tell you about the extended warranty options that will protect your car after your initial warranty ends.

Extending Your Warranty

Puente Hills Subaru offers several plans for you to choose from, depending on your lifestyle, driving habits, and preferences. As your dealer, we can set up your chosen option during your initial warranty coverage. The extension will then take effect from the day your original warranty ends and provide you with seamless protection.

There are different deductible options available, depending on your choice. An extension provides coverage for a range of different terms to suit all buyers and driving habits.  Extended coverage is available for as little as a year after factory coverage expires to 10 years from the original in-service date!

Powertrain Coverages

These plans cover major components in your engine, transaxle, and differential. All items that are covered are specified in the plan.

Classic Coverages

The next step up in protection, these plans include everything covered by the powertrain coverage and adds even more items. Many components in your steering system, fuel system, cooling system, electrical system, brakes, AC, and suspension are covered.  All items covered by this plan are specified.

Exclusionary Coverages

This highest level of coverage protects almost all items in your Subaru. Your car’s most high-tech features like the Eyesight system, Infotainment system, and electrical components are all covered by this plan. This plan is exclusionary, so it protects everything in your Subaru except items that are specifically excluded.

Common Plan Features

All three plans also come with a towing allowance and car rental allowance. If your car can’t be driven due to a component problem covered by the relevant plan, you are eligible for free towing to a repair shop. The car rental allowance feature provides you with reimbursement for up to five days for car rental if your Subaru is in a service center for repairs.
