car ac not working near city of industry, ca

Your car AC not working can make driving unbearable, especially on a hot, summer day. Fortunately, if you have an AC problem near City of Industry, CA, your friendly LA Subaru dealer can fix it for you. These are a few of the problems you might experience if your AC is on the fritz.

No Air From the Vents

When you’ve chosen your AC speed and switched it on, you should be greeted with gusts of crisp, cool air. If there’s no air movement through the ducts, you could have a blockage in the air ducts or the air intake. Air is drawn into the AC via a vent underneath your windshield. The air then enters the AC system where the humidity is removed, the air is cooled and then blown into your cabin.

The air intake vent can become blocked with dirt, leaves, and other debris, and this blockage might not be obvious if you look for it. The ducts in the AC system can also become blocked with debris over time, and this inhibits air movement. A third possibility is that the AC fan fuse has blown. In this situation, air can’t move through the ducts at any significant speed. We’ll investigate the problem and fix it for you.

Nasty Smells

If you smell a damp, earthy smell from the air conditioner, you could have a mold problem. Mold likes to grow in dark, damp spaces, and the AC ducts provide the perfect environment. Spores can blow in with the air and settle in the duct. When your AC isn’t being used over fall and winter, the lack of air movement allows the mold to spread out.

Mold spores will take advantage of small quantities of water in the AC to thrive. As mold grows, it produces a pungent, earth-like smell. We can easily fix this problem by adding a mold removal solution to the ducts. We then turn on the AC at full speed to rapidly move the solution through the AC and clear away the mold. Once the solution has done its work, your air conditioning will smell fresh and clean again.

Failed Compressor Clutch

The compressor is one of the most important parts of your AC system, as it converts liquid refrigerant into gas. The compressor clutch controls the compressor and switches the compressor on and off several times during the cooling process. If you listen closely, you should hear the tell-tale click-click as the compressor switches on and off.

If the clutch fails, the compressor can’t switch on. Since the compressor has such a vital role in cooling the air, its failure will prevent the AC from working. Our technicians will examine the clutch and install a new one if necessary.
