seasonal maintenance los angeles

You should visit your Los Angeles Subaru dealer for seasonal maintenance as well as your regular preventative maintenance so you can prepare your car for changes as the year goes on. Different components on your vehicle react differently to weather changes, so to make sure they’re all in top shape, follow the tips laid out below.

Winter Maintenance

Winter can be one of the most difficult seasons for your car due to all the rainfall that comes with it. Get your brakes and tires thoroughly checked out. If you don’t have enough tire tread, then you’ll need new ones to deal with the slippery roads. If your braking system needs any work done, then now is the time to get it. Make sure you also check on your wipers and have them replaced if yours are old.

Will you be heading out of state to somewhere that routinely has weather below 40°F? Talk to your dealer about getting winter tires for the trip. You’ll also need to switch to coolant that’s better for colder temperatures if you’re heading somewhere chilly.

Spring Maintenance

Once you enter spring, it’s time to thoroughly clean your car of the grime that built up on it during the wetter months. Pay specific attention to the underbody, as dirt and debris can cause it to rust. Now is the time to change out any old filters, especially the air filter. Have the braking system checked out, and check your tire tread again to make sure they didn’t wear down too much during the wet season.

Summer Maintenance

Before summer hits, you’ll need to make sure your air conditioning is working and that there’s enough coolant in your car to handle the wonderful summer sun. Your radiator will be working overtime to keep the car cool once the temperature heats up. Be sure to check on your tire pressure over the summer months, too, as hot weather temperature changes can really have an impact on it.

Fall Maintenance

When fall arrives, you usually won’t need that much season-specific maintenance. Changing out your filters again is a good call, as is checking on the cooling system to make sure summer didn’t take too much of a toll on it. Check your tire pressure and fluid levels and make necessary corrections.

Non-Seasonal Preventative Maintenance You’ll Need

Certain mileage-based maintenance requirements, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and tune-ups should be gotten based on your regular service schedule. You may need oil top-offs between changes, and sometimes your dealer will suggest getting a service sooner than expected. You should listen to their advice, but generally, your regular preventative maintenance needs aren’t impacted by the season.
